Curly Haired Tarantula

Enclosure   Selection    Health    Feeding   Breeding

This is a very in depth and comprehensive care sheet on the general care and health of curly haired tarantulas. Please note that it represents my opinions and is based on my own research of the topic. If you disagree with anything within the care sheet please get in contact with me. If you would like to add to it, again please get in touch.

Curly haired tarantulas (Brachypelma albopilosum) are excellent beginner spiders. Reaching approximately 5.5" they are among the most docile species and will tolerate mild handling if necessary. (See the handling guides here for more information.) These tarantulas will typically achieve an age of anywhere between 3 and 10 years, depending on the sex. Females tend to live a considerable time longer than males.

There are a lot of good care sheets on the internet and I recommend you read a few to get a good range of information before starting out. Given the proper care they can live for many years, so be prepared for the commitment. Use the links at the top to navigate the site and feel free to contact me with any suggestions for the site or with any questions you may have.
I will be updating and adding to it regularly. Use the links on the left to get started.
